Takeaway: Taichung was one of my favorite cities to visit this year and it’s not just because I got ice cream twice from the same place!

Miyahara, Central District. To call it a sundae would be a disservice. Visit 1 of 2 on our 3-day trip.

Chun Shui Tang Museum of Fine Arts, West District. In 1987, this company combined tapioca balls, a popular Taiwanese snack, with milk tea to create the first ever serving of Bubble Milk Tea.

National Taichung Theater, Xitun District.

National Taichung Theater, Xitun District. Watched a Taiwanese opera that, to my surprise, was performed entirely in Taiwanese. Luckily there were English and Mandarin subtitles displayed on both sides of the stage, but watching the performers and guessing the plot was way more fun than reading the whole time.
