The final country on our three-part Lunar New Year holiday break, Japan was most anticipated, and our nine total days there were just enough to get a sense of what some of the biggest cities have to offer. Osaka was big, crowded, and very business — both locale and infrastructure. Tokyo was cosmopolitan in hyperbole, a really interesting clash between Japanese working culture and ultra tourism. Kyoto was a comfortable blend of busy entertainment areas and quiet side streets. Nishiki Market and the bar/restaurant area along the river were exciting to explore and I hardly felt cramped or rushed. And of course, some fantastic skiing to cap off the trip.
