Our flight from Hanoi was a rocky start to the second leg of our trip. Erin and Eric made it through check-in with no issues, but Benton and I (mostly me) had some trouble. I had to wait at check-in for a good hour before being printed a new ticket, arriving at the gate just as our group was boarding. Landing in Hong Kong meant seeing Chinese characters again alongside a lot of English, which was certainly a comforting sight after being illiterate in Vietnam for so long. Sights from Hong Kong: left-side driving, double decker buses and light rails, fancy stores, nice restaurants, skyscrapers, cafes, diners, nice green spaces. Overall thoughts: Beautiful and clean, a welcome change from Hanoi, but a little more money is needed to really enjoy the area, lots of fine dining, luxury resorts, and good shopping, just not in the budget for low 20s Fulbright-salaried individuals.
